The car-sized Mars Science Laboratory, named Curiosity, is scheduled to launch in November 26 at 7:02 a.m. PST (10:02 a.m. EST) and land in Gale Crater on August 2012. The launch window is between November 25 and December 18.
Mars Science Laboratory is part of NASA's Mars Exploration Program and is a rover that will assess whether Mars ever was, or is still today, an environment able to support microbial life. Its mission is to determine the planet's "habitability."
